Most People Strategies are not short of ambition. The challenge often comes when the HR leadership team has to decide what genuinely deserves priority in the year ahead.
Most HR leadership teams already know the direction they want to take. The difficulty comes when that longer-term People Strategy meets the reality of the year ahead: changing business priorities, existing commitments, new opportunities, budget decisions and limited capacity. What deserves real priority? Where should investment increase, shift or stop? And what should continue, change or make way?
Business priorities may have shifted. Existing initiatives are taking up budget and capacity. New opportunities are emerging. And not everything can move forward at the same pace. So the question becomes: where does HR need to make the greatest contribution to the business in 2027, and what does that mean for the choices the HR leadership team makes now?
That is why we designed the CHRO Priority Blueprint, which brings the CHRO and HR leadership team together to turn the People Strategy into a clear, shared agenda for 2027.
From strategy to a focused agenda
A strong People Strategy gives direction. It does not automatically resolve the choices that need to be made each year.
Priorities may have shifted. Existing initiatives may no longer fully reflect what the business needs. Capability or capacity may be under pressure. And different parts of HR may have different views on where investment and attention should go.
The CHRO Priority Blueprint creates a structured moment for the HR leadership team to look at those questions together and agree where HR needs to focus in the year ahead.

How it works
The CHRO Priority Blueprint combines three connected elements to move from strategic direction to a clear set of priorities and commitments for 2027.
- Business strategy alignment with the CHRO. We start with the business. Together with the CHRO, we look at what is changing, what matters most in the year ahead and where HR needs to make the greatest contribution.
- Strategic readiness assessment. The CHRO and HR leadership team complete a focused assessment to create perspective on the capabilities most important to the strategy, the current HR starting point and the areas that may require greater focus or investment. It is not a rating exercise; it creates a stronger basis for the discussion that follows.
- A full-day working session with the HR leadership team. The CHRO and HR leadership team come together for one focused day to agree what deserves priority, what should accelerate, continue, change, reduce or stop, and what they are prepared to commit to for the year ahead.
What you will leave with
A clear CHRO Priority Blueprint for 2027 that captures:
- the business context that matters most;
- the People outcomes HR needs to enable;
- the priorities for the next 12 months;
- the key choices and commitments for the HR leadership team.
